As a female-founded music magazine here in Pittsburgh, we love seeing organizations like Pittsburgh’s own Women Who Rock making a difference for women. We had the opportunity to jump on the bandwagon and attend the 2026 Women Who Rock Benefit Concert presented by Gibson Gives on October 17 at Stage AE in the North Shore of Pittsburgh. The night was filled with good music, silent auctions, beauty bars, tattoos, female leaders, and so much more, all in support of this incredible cause.

Kicking off the night, Melinda Colaizzi, Founder of Women Who Rock, introduced the purpose behind the event and why we were all there. Women continue to face many gaps when it comes to research and medical care, making Women Who Rock very important. Through their partnership with Magee-Women’s Hospital, the organization raises money to support women’s health research. The event brought together female-fronted bands and artists, women-owned businesses, and a community prepared to make a difference.

There were tons to explore around the venue, including silent auctions featuring many incredible gift baskets, autographed Pittsburgh Penguins jerseys, sheet music from legendary artists, and guitars, including a Les Paul, signed by some of the greatest names in music. Every dollar raised throughout the night was donated to Magee-Women’s Health Research, making every donation and bid worth it.

Guests who purchased a VIP ticket had access to a VIP lounge, happy hour, and balcony seating. Kelly Dzanaj from 100.7 Star served as the emcee, guiding us through the night’s events. The Women Who Rock Impact Awards were given out to recognize individuals who make a difference in women’s health and leaders in their communities. Last year’s Rising Star winner returned to announce this year’s recipient, Mallory Bozovich.

The performances brought energy, influential emotions, and lots of girl power to the stage. DJ Coachelly had the energy going as guests were arriving and getting settled in for the evening ahead. Malina Moye begun the festivities by playing the national anthem on an electric guitar. Being a lefty guitar player brought uniqueness to the night. Kaylie Shorr performed, joined by the Survivors Who Rock group, who were recognized for their strength and bravery through some of life’s hardest challenges. Their presence is a reminder why we support this cause.

Next up, The Vindys, a rock band from Youngstown, Ohio, took the stage with lead vocalist and Women Who Rock ambassador Jackie Popovec. They brought us a performance with a rock ’n’ roll edgy feel to a night of celebrating talented women and their role in the music industry.

Closing out the night was 80s icon, Taylor Dayne, who headlined a performance that transported the crowd back in time. Still bringing the moves, she sang her heart out, bounced around the stage, and showed us how much passion she has for performing. Without hesitation, the crowd joined in with Taylor by singing the words to each song and dancing in the crowd as she delivered a set filled with energy and nostalgia. It was a performance that reminded everyone that live music has the power to bring people together.

The 2026 Women Who Rock Benefit Concert was more than just a night of great live music. It was a celebration of women supporting women, recognizing the strength of many, and a reminder why we need to help support women’s health research. From performers lighting up the stage to a community coming together for a very meaningful cause, the night showed that with a little purpose and music the spotlight can be shared.
